Eden Whale Festival

Eden, South Coast

Join the locals of Eden as they celebrate the whale migration at the annual Eden Whale Festival. For one weekend each year, the rich maritime and whaling history of this port on the Wilderness Coast becomes the centrepiece for a weekend that brings together all things whale. There's a spectacular street parade, vibrant markets showcasing and selling the work of local artisans, great local food and wine, educational marine displays and presentations, quality children's entertainment, live music and – of course – the best whale watching experience in Australia. Jervis Bay Whale Festival

Jervis Bay, South Coast
1 – 30 June, 2012

Join the local community as they celebrate the annual migration of whales on their journey along the south coast! Throughout June there are a range of community activities you can be a part of, from the ‘Sea of Whale Tails’ event and whale talks to the ‘On the water for whales’ paddle and ‘Whale Count Day’.

The waters at Huskisson in Jervis Bay will be bubbling with paddlers taking to the water to show their support for whales. Calling all paddlers to get out your kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, surfboards, body boards or anything that floats! Bring a friend and join us for a morning paddle on Jervis bay.

Cape St George Historic Lightouse provides a great platform to watch and count the Humpback and Southern Right whales as they make their annual northern migration. Billy tea and damper will be available on the day. Park use fees apply.

Bondi Whale Festival

Bondi Pavilion, Bondi Beach

10am – 3:30pm

Come along to the Marine Discovery Centre at the Bondi Pavilion and help celebrate the 3rd annual Bondi Whale Festival!

  • Meet ‘Venus’ the life-size 15m inflatable humpback whale and calf;
  • Win great prizes, including a family whale watching boat trip by following the clues of the ‘Whale Trail’ on the Pavilion forecourt and decorating your own ‘Save the Whale Tail’ (download your whale tail);
  • Learn lots about whales and what we can do to protect them with experts from whale conservation organisations at info-stalls on the Pavilion forecourt; and
  • Come on a free guided whale-watching walk to Marks Park Headland with a marine mammal expert from 1:00–2:30pm (bookings are required for this walk - email or call (02) 9300 0242).
